Lip-Synching In JeffCo Jail: Sheriff's Crew Jams To Elvis

GOLDEN, CO – The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is hoping a little Elvis Presley might help attract good candidates to apply for open positions in the sheriff's office – and deputies also wanted to throw down the lip-synch gauntlet to other Colorado law enforcement agencies.

The JeffCo Sheriff's Twitter feed popped up with a video of sheriff's employees cavorting to the music of "Jailhouse Rock," with uniformed deputies and staff dancing and spinning hand towels on the stairs between rows of cells, jumping on tables and waving a trombone and sax.

"Law enforcement is serious work, but we'd also like to take a moment to show you our human side" says a deputy when the music stops briefly. "We love what we do here at Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and you too can be a part of what we do." Then the crowd bursts into dancing again. (See video below).

The tweet tagged the Lone Tree and Greenwood police, and challenged the Denver and Arapahoe County Sheriffs offices as well as the Aurora, Denver and Littleton police departments.

"[T]ry and top these Jail House Rock moves!" the tweet taunts.

The Sheriff's office is hiring deputies for jail work and patrol, as well as a deputy chief information officer, a network administrator, a grants specialist, library pages and workers in HVAC and maintenance. The office also seeks volunteers to be victim advocates.
