• One Calamity After Another (goldentoday.com) — A 1915 issue of the Colorado Transcript captured a rough week in and around Golden, from spectacular auto wrecks and a fatal Lakeside roller coaster accident to a tragic farm injury. The coroner's inquest in Golden and other local details show how the community handled calamity more than a century ago. 
• Gin Marriages and Revenue (goldentoday.com) — A 1931 Colorado law against so-called "gin marriages" briefly reshaped how couples in Golden tied the knot, forcing a five-day wait and daytime-only license hours. The Colorado Transcript reported midnight trips to the Golden courthouse ending, a last-minute rush for licenses, and eventual repeal after elopers took their business to other states.
