📰 News we're reading
• Jefferson County voters face tax hike barrage on November ballot (completecolorado.com) — Jefferson County voters, including those in Golden, will confront several tax measures this November, from school funding and fire protection to a new Front Range passenger rail sales tax. While Golden lies outside the West Metro Fire district, residents will still help decide countywide school funding and the regional rail tax that could raise sales taxes without directly serving many local riders.

• Sky Federal, On Tap Credit Union Plan Merger (cutoday.info) — Golden's On Tap Credit Union plans to merge with Montana-based Sky Federal Credit Union, creating a combined institution with about $671 million in assets, 32,000 members, and eight branches across both states. Leaders say no branch closures are expected and promise stronger digital banking, fraud protection, and community programs, though the deal still needs regulatory approval and a member vote.

• College Football Roundup – Yellow Jackets Fall on the Road at Colorado School of Mines (kbhbradio.com) — Colorado School of Mines football defended their home turf in Golden with a 38-13 win over Black Hills State, overcoming an early deficit with 31 unanswered points and several long scoring plays. The roundup also notes other regional college results, but the marquee action for locals was the Orediggers' strong performance at Marv Kay Stadium.

- Nice size bear just hanging out on our front porch at 4:45 pm on a Saturday.
Nothing to see here. Time to bang some pots and scare the bearjesus out of him. This is not the mom and cubs that's also been hanging around. … (Nextdoor Golden) - FYI…A bear visited my neighbor's trash cans last night near Flora and Holman.
It's probably a good idea to keep the cans inside til trash day so they don't revisit. Thanks. (Nextdoor Sixth Ave West)
