Eaton Man Arrested After High School Lawn Damage (northfortynews.com) — Northridge High School's lawn in Greeley sustained about $15,000 in damage after a vehicle allegedly drove in circles on the grass late Aug. 26. Police used school surveillance, traffic cameras and license plate reader data to identify an 18-year-old Eaton suspect, who was booked into Weld County Jail as the investigation continues.

Greeley Voters to Decide 0.6% Sales Tax Increase (northfortynews.com) — Greeley residents will vote this November on a proposed 0.6% sales and use tax increase that could raise about $20 million in its first year for local projects. The money would help fund a new Downtown Civic Campus, a major West Greeley recreation and arena complex, and improvements to parks, pools, trails, and community facilities across the city.

Two Killed in Highway 34 Crash Near Greeley (northfortynews.com) — Two people were killed when a driver allegedly ran a red light at U.S. 34 and Weld County Road 17 near Greeley, striking their car and closing westbound Highway 34 for hours. Greeley Police arrested a Denver man on vehicular homicide and drug DUI charges and are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact investigators.

Weld County Confirms First Human West Nile Virus Case of 2026 (longmontleader.com) — Weld County health officials have confirmed this year's first human West Nile virus case, with infected mosquitoes found in all three monitoring zones that include Greeley and nearby communities. Residents are urged to drain standing water, avoid dusk and dawn exposure, wear long sleeves and use repellent as Culex mosquitoes remain active into September.
