Legal Notice: BCHA opening waitlist for Section 89 Project-Based Voucher apartments, Lafayette (lyonsrecorder.org) — Lafayette families needing affordable housing should know Boulder County Housing Authority will open an online waitlist for Section 8 project-based voucher apartments in town from Oct. 28–29. Two- and three-bedroom units base rent on 30% of adjusted income, with preference for participants in the Family Self-Sufficiency program and phone support available for reasonable accommodations.
   

2. Boulder County CROP Hunger Walk to bring over 100 people to Waneka Lake this week (dailycamera.com) — Lafayette will host the Boulder County CROP Hunger Walk this Sunday, starting at First United Methodist Church on Centaur Village Drive and looping around Waneka Lake. Organizers hope to draw at least 150 walkers and raise $60,000 to support Community Food Share locally and Church World Service’s hunger and disaster relief work in the U.S. and abroad.
   

3. As Sundance nears, Erie and Lafayette ready for short-term rentals (dailycamera.com) — Lafayette is rolling out a new short-term rental “festival license” so residents can legally host visitors during major events like the upcoming Sundance Film Festival in Boulder. The pilot program, running through June 2027, offers a cheaper, event-limited alternative to the city’s standard two-year license while keeping safety, occupancy, parking, and neighborhood protections in place.
   

4. Mother of Lafayette teen shot by neighbor speaks out about son's recovery, suspect's account (kdvr.com) — A Lafayette mother is sharing her son’s difficult recovery after the 17-year-old was shot while visiting his girlfriend’s Lafayette-area home, leaving him with a spinal cord injury and weeks of rehab ahead. As the suspect faces attempted murder and assault charges in local court, the family is grappling with medical, housing and financial challenges and seeking accountability while the teen works to walk again.
