β’ Boulder police officer tackled teen boy and gave him concussion during illegal arrest, lawsuit alleges (denverpost.com) β An 18-year-old Lafayette resident is suing the Boulder Police Department, alleging officers tackled and wrongfully detained him near the CU Boulder campus in 2025, causing a concussion and lasting trauma. The suit claims officers misidentified him as a bank robbery suspect despite conflicting descriptions and seeks damages plus retraining for the officers involved.

β’ Boulder County voters will decide childcare tax in November election (coloradohometownweekly.com) β Boulder County voters, including those in Lafayette, will decide a November property tax proposal to raise about $30 million annually for childcare assistance, expanded infant and toddler slots, and better wages for providers. Supporters, including Lafayette City Council member Annmarie Jensen, say the measure would ease long waitlists and crushing childcare costs, though commissioners acknowledged concerns about adding to already high living expenses.
