2 In Custody After Police Chase In Jefferson County

The police chase began after someone fired shots at a Denver police officer, authorities said.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — A man and a woman were taken into custody Thursday after a police chase in Jefferson County. The chase began after someone fired shots at a police officer near West 8th Avenue and Urban Street in Lakewood, authorities said. The officer wasn't struck by the gunfire and didn't fire back, according to police.

Roger Dale Reynolds, 35, was arrested at Planet Honda, 15701 W. Colfax Ave., police said. Several warrants were out for Reynolds' arrest — he was wanted for aggravated robbery, aggravated motor vehicle theft and felony menacing, police said.

A woman who was in the vehicle with Reynolds during the police chase was arrested near West 63rd Avenue and Julian Street. The woman has been identified as 26-year-old Stacia Darline Smith.

Reynolds faces multiple charges, including attempted first degree murder of a police officer, aggravated robbery, vehicular eluding and weapons possession by a previous offender.

Charges were still pending against Smith.
