Here are the top stories in Lakewood today:
- Hikers at Bear Creek Lake Park held at gunpoint. In what appears to be an attempted kidnapping, the couple were hiking near Lakewood's Bear Creek Lake Park. The suspect was able to put a rope leash around the woman's neck and held her and her husband at gunpoint.(ABC)
- In Denver this is what $700K buys you vs. elsewhere. Home buyers can get nearly double the size of home elsewhere when compared to metro Denver. The median home price in the region is hovering around $650k. (FOX31)
- What happened to the fountain at Casa Bonita? The water fountain at Casa Bonita was removed last week from the currently closed restaurant, and City of Lakewood officials indicate that they are waiting to see the new plans for a fountain structure. (Patch)
- The new area code arrives. Move over 303 and 720, the new 983 code is here. The new area code includes metro Denver along with surrounding cities that include: Aurora, Boulder, Brighton, Castle Rock, Englewood, Lakewood, Littleton, Thornton and Westminster. (CBS4)
- Drinking Water Health Advisory issued by the EPA. According to the Environmental Working Group, water supplies in communities across the state are at risk. (Patch)
