Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:
- CDOT hopes new express shuttle service will reduce traffic on I-70. With a stop in Lakewood at the Denver Federal Center, the Colorado Department of Transportation believes travelers will be served by having another way to get to the mountains with its new Pegasus shuttle service. (7News)
- Most metro area cities lost population during the early days of the pandemic, but Lakewood gained 661. According to the recently released U.S. Census Bureau data, most metro Denver cities lost population through the worst of part of the COVID-19 pandemic between July 1, 2020, to July 1, 2021. (KDVR)
- State House Representative Kerry Tipper appointed as Denver deputy city attorney. State Rep. Kerry Tipper, D-Lakewood, will begin her role as Denver Deputy City Attorney on May 31.
Since 2019, Tipper had represented House District 28 in central Lakewood, but decided not to run again after the recent statewide redistricting changed the boundaries of her district. (Gazette) - Both Independence Pass and Trail Ridge are open in time for Memorial Day trips. Two high country roads have opened for the season. Those late May snowstorms created huge snow drifts on both Trail Ridge Road and Independence Pass and crews were uncertain if they would be able to clear the road in time for their traditional Memorial Day weekend openings.
