Colorado Teacher Killed In 'Horrific' Christmas Eve Crash: Report
Cheri Goodard and Sancy Shaw were reportedly killed in the wreck near Genesee on Monday. Shaw was a charter school teacher.

GENESEE, CO — A charter school teacher with a passion for the outdoors was reportedly one of two people killed in a Christmas Eve crash on Interstate 70 near Genesee. The crash happened in the westbound lanes Monday night. State troopers in Golden called the wreck "horrific" on Twitter.
An eastbound vehicle drifted too far out of its lane and then apparently over-corrected. The vehicle went through a median, spun out and smashed into another vehicle, media outlets reported. Investigators suspected alcohol and marijuana played a role in the crash.

Shaw was born in Wyoming but grew up in Colorado, according to the school's website. She attended the University of Wyoming on a soccer scholarship and graduated with a degree in secondary education with concentration in biology.
"After graduating from UW, Sancy and her husband, Brett, moved back to the Yampa Valley where past generations of Sancy’s family have lived since 1960," the site said.
She also coached soccer and loved the outdoors.
"Outside of NRCCS you can find Sancy enjoying the blessings of life. Time spent with her family (husband Brett, sons Wyatt, Mason and Jaxon and daughter Charlee), camping, running trails, skiing/snowboarding, hiking, really...anything outdoors," the site said.
