Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:
- West Colfax intersection in Lakewood has long history of close calls. The intersection at West Colfax Avenue and Kendall Street is challenging for both drivers and pedestrians. It's also the location where a pedestrian was killed by a hit and run driver last last Friday. The Lakewood Police Department indicate that there have been eight crashes at that intersection so far this year. (FOX31)
- CU fires head coach and looks to rebuild football program after 0-5 start. In his third year coaching the program, head coach Karl Dorrell has seen the team drop to the bottom of the PAC-12 heap. University officials made the announcement on Sunday after the Buffaloes (0-5) suffered a 43-20 defeat Saturday night against the Arizona Wildcats. (USA Today)
- Colorado skier Hilaree Nelson gets traditional Nepalese funeral. Hilaree Nelson, 49, was skiing the 26,775-foot summit Mount Manaslu, and fell to her death into a large crevice. Buddhist monks officiated over a ceremony.(CBS4)
- Denver continues to struggle to reduce death among homeless population. Denver has had some success moving people off the streets and into apartments, but the city continues to struggle to save lives of those living on the street. (AP)
