  1. The EPA prepares to declare the Front Range as a severe violator of air quality. If the action is taken by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, it would trigger a new set of strict rules that would force metro Denver municipalities to improve local air quality. This new designation comes on the heels of the last few summers of smoggy air. (CPR)
  2. RTD moves forward with security plan on trains and buses. With all the problems in and around Union Station, the beleaguered transit agency has revised their security plans. Additionally, an app has been created that allows riders to report unwelcome activities on RTD vehicles. (FOX31)
  3. Nebraska legislature votes to build canal that will divert water from South Platte River. Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts hatched the plan last January to construct a canal under the South Platte River Compact – a water-sharing agreement approved by Nebraska, Colorado and the U.S. Congress in 1923.   4. U.S. Congressmen visit area impacted by NCAR Fire. Sen. Michael Bennet and Representative Joe Neguse visited the the burn area where a line of red fire retardant between the burn area and a south Boulder neighborhood was still visible. (CO Daily)
  5. Louisville Police capture catalytic converter thief. The suspect was in possession of several catalytic converters in his vehicle. Police caught Edgar Antillon-Bencomo while patrolling the area that was burned in the Marshall Fire. (7News)
