LAKEWOOD, CO — A Lakewood restaurant was destroyed in a fire early Monday morning, fire officials said. The fire broke out inside Carniceria Los Tapatios, near West First Avenue and North Harlan Street. A passerby saw the fire and called authorities, officials said.

Firefighters arrived to find the restaurant engulfed in flames. Half of the restaurant's roof collapsed and the building is considered to be "a total loss," according to a tweet by West Metro Professional Firefighters.

A preliminary investigation found the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction in a refrigeration unit, West Metro Fire Rescue said.
