LAKEWOOD, CO — The Glennon Heights Pool in Lakewood is closed throughout the summer for renovation. Demolition of the pool's bathhouse begins this week, the City of Lakewood said.

"The large pool will receive pool shell enhancements and other important improvements to ensure that residents can enjoy it as a place to play and exercise for years to come," the city said in a social media post.

The new bathhouse will be fully accessible, and will include locker rooms, toilets, sinks, showers, family changing rooms, storage space and a lifeguard office. The building's new entryway will also be reconfigured, city officials said.

A zero-depth entry access point and expanded deck will be added to the existing baby pool in order to bring it into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the city said. The baby pool will be accessible via a ramp from the renovated bathhouse and stairs. A gentle bubble water feature will also be added to the pool for babies and toddlers.
