Here are the top five stories in Lakewood today:
- Explosion destroys Westminster home, human remains found. The fire department is investigating what caused the explosion and who was in the home at the time. One neighbor indicated that the home had been "burned out, and boarded up" prior to the incident. (7News)
- Housing prices after the Marshall Fire continue to climb. Boulder County was already struggling with housing affordability, but with the loss of thousands of homes, it has only exacerbated the problem. (CO Sun)
- Colorado Department of Transportation launches pedestrian safety campaign. CDOT's new campaign is designed to get drivers to be more aware of pedestrians. The program also includes a list of safety tips drivers and pedestrians can follow. (CBS4)
- Risk of fires increase as cold weather hits homeless camps in Denver. So far this year, more than 150 fires have lit up campers, and fire officials have been confiscating thousands of pounds of propane from the illegal encampments. (FOX31)
- Sweeps canceled as Denver expands shelters to protect people without homes from cold. Thousands of people were staying in shelters in Denver on Monday night – but advocates aren't convinced the city is doing enough. (Denverite)
