Failed Thief Admits He's Bad At Car Break-Ins: Jeffco Deputies
After several failed attempts at breaking into vehicles in Jefferson County, deputies said a car thief told them, "I really suck at this."

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — A man admitted to Jefferson County deputies that he "sucks" at stealing cars, officials said. Todd Sheldon was arrested and faces charges of attempted car theft.
"They say perseverance is a good thing, but that’s not always true. For example, a man tried to break into a car in south JeffCo last week, but was caught by the homeowner," The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office wrote in a Facebook post. "The homeowner then called us, but the man escaped before we arrived."
Deputies then found Sheldon down the street trying to break into another vehicle, officials said.

"As deputies approached him, they could see him actively trying to break into the truck," the post read. "He replied: 'I can’t. I’m trying to steal this truck.'"
Sheldon was taken into custody and later bonded out, officials said.

"Unfortunately the story doesn’t end there. This past week deputies were called to a report of a man breaking into a car. When they got on scene, it was the same man, yet again trying to break into a vehicle," the post read.
"Perhaps this time he might have learned his lesson as he told the deputy, 'I really suck at this.'"
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said officials decided to share the story because of its "uniqueness," but also to remind drivers to lock their cars and report any suspicious activity.
"The suspect in this post is currently in our jail and we’re hoping he takes advantage of the counseling and educational opportunities we offer to help him in his future endeavors."
