Lakewood Coronavirus Update: Cases, Disaster Declaration Extended
Here's the latest news about the new coronavirus in Lakewood.

LAKEWOOD, CO — Lakewood's City Council has approved the extension of the city's disaster emergency declaration to April 13. As of Monday afternoon, there were 253 cases of the new coronavirus in Jefferson County, health officials confirmed. Five people had died in the county.
All Lakewood civic center buildings remain closed to the public; however, in "limited cases only, such as for the Public Safety Center, members of the public will be allowed to enter city facilities and will be given access by an employee," city officials said. If the access is granted, social distancing rules must be followed.
Jefferson County Public Health withdrew its stay-at-home order Thursday and adopted the state's order to maintain consistency, health officials said.

Lakewood police, park rangers and community service officers are patrolling parks and recreation areas, businesses and neighborhoods to enforce the stay-at-home order.
"The primary goal is to first educate individuals and groups about the order to encourage compliance and discourage future violations," a public notice says. "Further violations of the order by individuals and groups can result in citations and fines."
The city has launched a map to help people find out which businesses are offering services. The map will be updated daily, officials said. If you are a business owner and want to be added, you can fill out the online survey.
