Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:
- EPA comes to Lakewood to talk about the poisonous emissions from sterilization plant. Terumo BCT Sterilization Services manufactures and distributes blood-related medical devices. The chemicals that the plant releases can cause cancer and other health problems when exposed to ethylene oxide. (Westword)
- Golden moving forward with plan to lower neighborhood speed limits. City officials have started working toward implementing a plan that would lower residential speed limits to 20 mph. If approved, it could go into effect as soon as spring of 2023. (Transcript)
- Casa Bonita is paying its employees to learn a new language. While the restaurant has been closed during construction, some employees of the iconic restaurant have been keeping busy learning a new language. (CBS4)
- Colorado's Traction Law is in effect, don't get the $650 ticket. The Traction Law is active between September 1 to May 31, and requires that all vehicles have a minimum tread depth of 3/16 of an inch. The I-70 stretch (between Morrison and Dotsero) is in an 'always activated' state, in hopes of alleviating delays and crashes. (Out There)
