Here are the top stories in Lakewood today:

  1. Vandals have been targeting Lakewood churches. Five churches have been vandalized since last November. Lakewood Police have released a new photo of the suspect, in hopes the community can identify those that have caused thousands of dollars of damage. (9News)
  2. Xcel gives you .08 cents for your electricity, then sells it to your neighbor for .17 cents. Nearly 60,000 Colorado homeowners with solar panels in Colorado aren't getting all the benefits of having installed solar. Xcel is way behind on installing the Smart Meters that provide better metering for on and off-peak electricity generation. (CO Sun)
  3. Gas prices are lower than last month's peaks, but for how long? Gas prices continue to dip in metro Denver, and one station up north in Firestone had gas priced at $3.47 for regular unleaded. (FOX31)
  4. Boulder woman is walking across Colorado in order to raise money. India H. Wood decided that she wanted to crisscross the state on foot as a way to bring attention to and raise money for the Audubon Society. (7News)
  5. Colorado working other states to save the Colorado River. The two page plan that's been presented, does not include reducing water use in the upper half of the Colorado River Basin. The response stems from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's recent demand that those states that share the river, find a way to reduce their water consumption and present a cohesive plan by the end of August.
