Lakewood Police Continue To Deal With Speeding Problem
Over the past few months, officers have caught many vehicles traveling at dangerously high speeds, Lakewood police said.
LAKEWOOD, CO — Speeding vehicles are putting people's lives at risk in Denver's metro area, police warned. Over the past few months, the Lakewood Police Department has posted photos of speeders, along with public notices asking drivers to slow down and save lives.
The latest post shows a motorcyclist who was stopped after going 83 mph in a 45 mph zone, police said.
"There’s cyclists, runners, walkers, droners, hikers, bikers & little tikers out everywhere & we are #StillHere, so keep your speeds & wheels down!" the post says.

The sad face was from getting stopped at 83 in a 45 mph zone. If the speed wasn’t enough to get our attention, the wheelie sure did. Be alert, we are #StillHere...right under the sign. One rider was @ 117 before slowing to 109 mph. The wheelie was seen by another driver. Does the sign say “Motorcyles are out often doubling the speed limit & doing wheelies”? No. Please ride safe & keep the speeds & wheels down. pic.twitter.com/i75jgyjsTT

In April, officers witnessed dangerous driving as roads became less congested amid the stay-at-home order.
FYI: Traffic laws DO NOT say this: “Traffic violations of driving in excess of the speed limit, driving through red lights, stop signs or tailgating while making unsafe lane changes are against the law...unless there’s a virus”. Laws exist, so do we. We’re #StillHere #DoYourPart pic.twitter.com/BDDAIcxQYp
