Lakewood Teen's Fentanyl Death: Man Accused Of Murder

A man is accused of killing a teenage girl by giving her a fatal dose of fentanyl in Aurora, the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.

Jorge Alexander Che-Quiab, 25, has been charged with 13 counts, including two counts of first-degree murder, the DA's office said.

The 16-year-old girl, who was from Lakewood, died after Che-Quiab gave her fentanyl and told her it was "oxy," according to 18th Judicial District Attorney George Brauchler. The girl died Aug. 7 in Aurora.

“It is incredibly concerning that unsuspecting drug users could inadvertently be consuming fentanyl, which is 50 times stronger than oxycodone,” Brauchler said in a statement.

“In this case, we have a juvenile victim who was given what she thought was ‘oxy,’ and she is dead from a fentanyl overdose. This is a warning to illegal drug users: The risk cannot be overstated, and it is death.”

Che-Quiab is also accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl the same night in Aurora, according to a report by The Denver Post.

Che-Quiab is being held on a $2 million bond in the Arapahoe County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 9.
