WESTMINSTER, CO — A man who's accused of killing his ex-wife in Westminster was arrested Tuesday in Texas, police said. He was caught leaving an auto parts store in Houston, according to the Westminster Police Department.

James Arthur Naulls Jr., 30, is accused of beating and strangling Yasmin Usama DaHabreh to death Jan. 31. She was taken to a hospital, where she died four days later.

DaHabrah had been assaulted by Naulls several times in recent months before the attack that led to her death, police said.

"Detectives determined Mr. Naulls began wearing costume make-up to hide his tattoos and fled to Texas because there was no place for him to hide in Colorado," Westminster police said in a media release.

"As a separate aspect of the investigation, detectives are focusing on bringing charges against those who helped him evade capture and flee to Texas. Throughout the investigation we discovered several leads that affirmed Mr. Naulls was getting help to evade police."

Police issued the following statement from DaHabrah's family:

“We are elated that he has been arrested… overwhelmed when detectives called and couldn’t stop shaking for hours after hearing the news.”

Because Naulls was arrested in Texas, he will appear before a judge for an extradition hearing over the next few days.
