Man Accused Of Lakewood Murder

A 21-year-old man was shot during a marijuana sale, authorities said.

LAKEWOOD, CO — A 36-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after a 21-year-old was shot and killed in Lakewood earlier this month. A woman was injured in the shooting.

Danny Carter Jr., 36, is accused of firing shots at two people on June 17 in the Mount Aire Mobile Home Park during a marijuana sale, according to the Jefferson County district attorney's office.

One of the victims, 21-year-old Roderick Vecchiarelli, died from his wounds. The woman's injuries were serious but non-fatal.

Witnesses reported seeing a white hatchback fleeing the area of the shooting, police said. The car crashed near Sloan's Lake, and two people were arrested by Edgewater police.

A woman who was in the car with Carter was also taken into custody, but she is not facing charges, police said.

Carter has been charged with first degree murder, six counts of aggravated robbery and five violent crime counts, the district attorney's office said.

Carter is being held without bond at the Jefferson County jail. He's scheduled to appear back in court June 27.
