Man Accused Of Stabbing Girlfriend To Death In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, CO — A Lakewood man has been charged with first-degree murder after his girlfriend was found stabbed to death on New Year's Day.

Stephen Douglas Derossett, 52, appeared in Jefferson County District Court Wednesday, where he was advised of the murder charge, the First Judicial District Attorney's office said.

Police were called to their home around 11:20 a.m. in the 2500 block of South Cody Way and found 49-year-old Kelli Jackson on the floor suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to the Lakewood Police Department. She died before she could be taken to a hospital.

Derossett told police that Jackson had moved in with him seven months before her death.

Derossett is being held without bond at the Jefferson County jail. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 4.
