Man Attempted Robbery Before Fatal Lakewood Crash: Police

A witness said a man tried to rob somebody before he was hit by a vehicle, according to Lakewood police.

LAKEWOOD, CO — Lakewood police are investigating a fatal crash near W. Colfax Avenue and Fenton Street. A man was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday morning, police said.

Officers were called to the intersection at about 4:35 a.m., and found the man's body on the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness said the man tried to rob someone before he was hit by the vehicle, according to the Lakewood Police Department.

The driver of the car that hit the pedestrian remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. No charges are expected to be filed at this time for the driver.
