JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — A man has been sentenced to 48 years in prison after a string of crimes, the First Judicial District Attorney said. Timothy Albert Bryant, 61, was sentenced Friday for his 11th felony conviction.

Bryant broke into a Lakewood home on S. Simms in March of last year and used the homeowner's tools to break into a safe, the DA's office said. He ransacked the house, took $30,000 in coins and over $8,000 in other property from the home, prosecutors said.

The homeowner said that the property was for his twin grand-daughters’ college fund.

Bryant left a fingerprint on a screwdriver that he used to break into the safe, the DA's office said. The evidence provided a match for law enforcement and led to his arrest.

A jury found Bryant guilty of second degree burglary, theft and criminal mischief after his trial in February.
