Parents Charged In Connection With Fentanyl Death Of Toddler

The parents of a 2-year-old girl face child abuse charges after she died from fentanyl toxicity, the 1st Judicial district attorney said.

LAKEWOOD, CO — Two parents have been charged in connection with the death of their 2-year-old daughter in Lakewood, the 1st Judicial District Attorney's Office announced Monday. An autopsy revealed the child had fentanyl in her system, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.

Rashad Turner, 30, and Denisha Chelyce Woodsking, 29, have each been charged with child abuse resulting in death.

On Feb. 24, Lakewood police were called to the Crosslands Motel, at 715 Kipling St. The officers were told a child wasn't breathing and found that 2-year-old Jada'Marie Glenn-Turner had died, the district attorney's office said.

Turner, Woodsking, Jada'Marie and two other young children had been living at the motel for several days before the toddler's death, authorities said. Police officers found a trash bag in the motel room filled with oxycontin, Xanax, heroine, Suboxone and marijuana, according to an arrest affidavit.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office ruled that fentanyl toxicity was the cause of the child's death.

Turner and Woodsking are each being held on $50,000 bail at the Jefferson County Jail. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 12.
