- Pedestrian deaths on the rise. The increase in pedestrian fatalities across the county over the first half of 2021 continues mimics a long-term trend of our streets and roads being more dangerous for people on foot. According to the report by the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), pedestrian deaths have skyrocketed over the last decade – from 4,457 in 2011 to 6,516 in 2020 – a 46% increase. (CBS4)
