Here are the top four stories today in Lakewood:

  1. The mighty Colorado River is the most endangered river in the U.S. The river is at the epicenter of the nation's water and climate crisis, as the conservation group, American Rivers, ranks it this year's most endangered. With more than 20 years of record-breaking drought conditions – those that rely on the water from the river are now faced with a series of tough choices. (CPR)
  2. Red Flag warning issued for Metro Denver and Boulder. The National Weather Service has issued another wildfire warning for today to limit outdoor burning and activities that could produce a spark. Critical fire weather conditions across lower elevations are expected, as relative humidity of 10 to 20 percent coincides with wind gusts between 25 to 35 mph. (Patch)
  3. Single women in Denver not deterred by sky-high housing market (The Denver Post)
  4. Colorado ranks #1 in election integrity. Voters in Colorado have the safest free and fair elections in the U.S. According to the recently released study that assesses election accountability, Colorado, Maryland and Washington received the highest scores in the Democracy Initiative Education fund's study.
