Here are the top five stories in Lakewood today:

1. Everyone deserves safe streets. The state house passed the Safer Streets Act, which aims to create a $10.3 million grant program to fund crime reduction on a local level and encourage safer neighborhoods. (KKCO)
2. Even houses that are referred to as a 'total disaster' are selling fast. I remember a-not-so-long-ago era when we couldn't find any buyers for houses. Today's real estate market is, for lack of better words, crazy. (FOX31)

4. Marshall Fire donation center closing up shop. The donation center was opened up in an effort to help those impacted by Marshall Fire last December. There's still a lot of stuff available, and today is it's last day of operation, Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (KDVR)
