• Colorado domestic violence shelters struggle to stay open as federal crime victim funds dry up (coloradosun.com) — Leadville’s main victim services nonprofit, Advocates of Lake County, has lost hundreds of thousands in funding, forcing closure of its local shelter and deep cuts to hotel stays, phones, and staffing. These reductions come as the Leadville community has suffered two recent domestic-violence-related deaths and rising statewide fatalities, leaving fewer safe options for residents trying to escape dangerous homes.
   

• Wildfire Containment Improves Across Central Colorado (heartoftherockiesradio.com) — Leadville-area residents are still under strict fire restrictions as the Willow Fire west of town grows past 4,300 acres but reaches 10% containment. Evacuated locals can now get mandatory re-entry cards in nearby Buena Vista, while Stage 2 restrictions banning campfires remain in effect across Lake County and surrounding areas as multiple large wildfires continue to burn in central Colorado.
   

• Ferris fire: Fire forces late-night evacuations in southwest Colorado (cpr.org) — While the Ferris fire dominates headlines in southwest Colorado, Leadville residents should know the nearby Willow Fire has grown beyond 4,000 acres and is only 10% contained. It’s one of several major wildfires straining firefighting resources statewide, alongside the massive Aspen Acres and Gold Mountain fires that are driving smoke and fire danger across Colorado.
