Demolition Of 'Dangerous' Littleton Home Begins
A home that caught fire in March will be knocked down, Littleton officials said.
LITTLETON, CO — The demolition of a home that was declared “dangerous” by the City of Littleton's code enforcement division began Friday. Crews began removing debris and will continue working on the demolition over the next few weeks, officials said. The salvageable contents of the home, at 7874 South Windermere Circle, were inventoried, removed and are being stored until their disposition is determined, the city said.
This home was previously cited for multiple municipal code violations dating back to 2012, officials said. The house was determined to be uninhabitable last May, and an order was issued to bring it to a state of good repair.
Despite extensions granted by the city to make corrections to the property, the owner failed to bring the home into compliance, the city said. A final notice and demolition order were issued last November.

The property's owner then appealed to the Building Board of Appeals, and a witness testimony was scheduled for March 20; however, the home caught fire on March 19.
The home was declared "a dangerous structure" after additional damage caused by the fire.

The property's owner had 30 days to appeal the declaration but failed to do so, the city said.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
