Littleton City Council Ratifies Emergency Declaration

The Littleton City Council met Friday and ratified the city manager's Emergency Declaration.

LITTLETON, CO — The Littleton City Council ratified an Emergency Declaration Friday amid the spread of the new coronavirus. The declaration will allow the city to access additional emergency funds and resources.

The council also voted to amend its legislative procedures to allow council meetings to be conducted remotely.

Littleton City Manager Mark Relph has extended the public closure of city buildings from April 3 to April 30. Many staff are working from home to keep the city’s basic operations functioning. The Littleton Police Department, fleet, streets and other essential workers continue to do their jobs, officials said.

“We are experiencing the COVID-19 event together. While I wish we didn’t have to go through this troubling time, it’s times like this that bring out the best in people," Mayor Jerry Valdes said in a statement. "It’s heartwarming to see people volunteering to go grocery shopping for vulnerable individuals and helping in other ways. The best news is that our community will grow stronger because neighbors reached out and supported each other. I encourage you to stay positive. This too will pass.”
