Littleton Police Department Seeks Victim Services Volunteers

The Littleton Police Department Victim Services unit is seeking applicants who want to help victims of crime.

LITTLETON, CO — Volunteers are needed to help with crisis intervention and support for victims of crime and traumatic events in the City of Littleton. The volunteers would work with the Littleton Police Department Victim Services unit.

The Victim Advocate Academy will begin in April 2020:

  • From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays
  • From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays

The training is free, and participants will receive a certificate upon completion.

Volunteers may respond to cases involving:

  • Domestic violence
  • Sexual assault
  • Homicide
  • Child abuse
  • Suicide
  • Traffic fatalities
  • Natural death
  • Other incidents when requested

Volunteer qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Live within 30 minutes response time to Littleton Police Headquarters
  • Have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and insurance
  • Submit to a background check
  • Able to commit to two 12-hour on-call shifts a month
  • Commit to at least one year of service
  • Attend mandatory meetings
  • Attend 45 hours of initial training
