Assault reported on Denver Way in Longmont (Police notes) (timescall.com) — Longmont police reported an assault Monday night in the 0 block of Denver Way, along with several crashes and a disturbance arrest around town. Officers also handled auto theft and hit-and-run cases on streets including 14th Avenue, Spencer Street, South Hover Street, and Coffman Street. 2. 🍕 Colorado Pizza Festival Serves Up Pizza, Music & Purpose (macaronikid.com) — Downtown Longmont will host the inaugural Colorado Pizza Festival on Saturday, September 5, 2026, bringing 20-plus pizzerias, live music, and family activities to town. The event doubles as a fundraiser for hunger-relief groups, including Longmont Food Rescue, led by local pizzerias through the Pizza With Purpose nonprofit. Attendees can enjoy pizza, drinks, and bands like The Motet while supporting neighbors in need.
   

3. Longmont seeks community designers for city flag redesign (dailycamera.com) — Longmont is inviting residents and Native community members with ancestral ties to the area to help redesign the city’s official flag, which has flown since 1974. A panel will select three semifinalists, each earning $1,000, with the winning designer receiving an additional $1,500. Applications are open now through July 20 on the city website or by phone request.
   

4. Pilot and Passenger Fatally Injured in Crash Following In-Flight Engine Issues (generalaviationnews.com) — A twin‑engine Cessna that departed Longmont’s Vance Brand Airport experienced engine trouble en route to Utah and ultimately crashed near Steamboat Springs, killing both pilot and passenger. Investigators say the pilot failed to maintain enough airspeed after losing power, causing a stall and spin, and are examining engine damage and maintenance history for contributing factors.
