Longmont High teacher Annie Gorenstein-Falkenberg wins national award (timescall.com) — A longtime Longmont High School English teacher and yearbook adviser has earned the National Scholastic Press Association’s top Pioneer Award, spotlighting the school’s nationally recognized yearbook program. Her nearly two decades of teaching, including 12 years in Longmont, have focused on empowering student journalists and mentoring educators across the country, bringing national attention back to the local classroom.
   

2. Injury crash reported at 21st and Francis in Longmont (Police notes) (timescall.com) — Longmont police reported an injury crash Wednesday at Francis Street and 21st Avenue, along with another injury crash at Ninth and Hover and an auto theft on 17th Avenue. Officers also handled domestic-related arrests and a theft call on Redmond Drive, offering residents a snapshot of recent safety issues in several neighborhoods around town.
   

3. Transit takes center stage at Longmont's State of the City (dailycamera.com) — Longmont leaders used this year’s State of the City to outline how the new $70 million 1st & Main Transit Station and a future $10 bus to DIA could reshape downtown, housing, and jobs. Officials also discussed passenger rail plans, a new Front Range Community College campus, and how nearby businesses and parking will support residents when projects open later this decade.
   

4. 102326-dg-news-sundance-bus (denvergazette.com) — If you commute between Longmont and Boulder, RTD will offer zero-fare rides on the BOLT bus and extended hours on several routes during the Sundance Film Festival’s Boulder run, Jan. 21–31. The goal is to ease traffic and make it simpler for residents and visitors to reach screenings, especially late at night, with added service to Chautauqua Park and other key corridors.
