• Longmont pilot prepares to race jet 50 feet above New Mexico desert (dailycamera.com) — Longmont resident and retired Navy pilot Matthew Menza is heading to Roswell this month to race his L-39C jet around a low-altitude, 11-mile course at up to 600 mph. He’ll be the first pilot from Longmont to compete, with his wife leading the pit crew and local sponsors backing him, and residents invited to follow the races and even donate to support his costly effort.
