📰 News we're reading

• Parker sets November 2026 election, opens filing timeline for council seats (prismnews.com) — Parker has set its next Town Council election for November 3, 2026, with three four-year seats on the ballot and filing already open for prospective candidates. Residents interested in running can attend pre-candidate and orientation meetings at Town Hall this summer and fall to learn about campaign rules, responsibilities, and how the council shapes land use, transportation, and long-term growth.

• Parker completes High Plains Trail, closing Douglas County gap (prismnews.com) — Parker has finished the High Plains Trail connection over South Parker Road, closing the last major gap in this regional path and giving residents a safer way to cross the busy corridor. The new segment links existing trail sections along E-470 and advances a long-planned route from Aurora down to the Cherry Creek Trail in Parker, improving options for walkers, cyclists, and commuters.

• Professional firework shows delayed across Douglas County (highlandsranchherald.com) — Parker’s professional Fourth of July fireworks show is off for now, postponed to Veterans Day on November 11 because of countywide Stage 2 fire restrictions. Along with Lone Tree and Castle Rock, Parker is closing fireworks stands, asking residents not to use personal fireworks, and directing people to call the police non-emergency line to report violations that could bring steep fines or jail time.
