Pueblo food truck wins Governor's Harvest Table at Colorado State Fair (chieftain.com) — A Pueblo-based food truck, Double D's BBQ, just won the Governor's Harvest Table competition at the Colorado State Fair with its brisket made from Colorado beef. Governor Jared Polis praised the food and highlighted Southern Colorado agriculture, saying he plans to return to Pueblo for the Chile and Frijoles Festival, where Pueblo chiles will again be in the spotlight.
   

2. Auto thefts fall nearly 40% in latest Pueblo Police Department crime statistics (krdo.com) — New crime statistics from the Pueblo Police Department show encouraging drops in several categories, including a nearly 40% decrease in auto thefts and a 10% decline in overall property crime. Crimes against persons are down 8%, but homicides and shootings have risen compared to last year, giving residents a mixed picture of public safety trends in Pueblo.
   

3. Sheriff's office investigating after remains found near Lake Pueblo (chieftain.com) — Authorities are investigating after human remains were discovered Tuesday night on Lake Pueblo State Park property near Liberty Point, drawing a response from deputies, wildlife officers, and Pueblo West firefighters. The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office and interim county coroner are working to identify the person, and say more forensic testing is needed before releasing a name or cause of death.
   

4. Pueblo teacher named finalist for Teacher of the Year (fox21news.com) — A Minnequa Elementary 5th-grade teacher in Pueblo School District 60 has been named a finalist for Colorado Teacher of the Year, standing out among nearly 300 applicants statewide. Colleagues praise his strong relationships with students and meaningful lessons, while students say they'll never forget him. The statewide winner will be announced in October.
   

5. U.S. senator visits Pueblo to discuss affordable housing law and local development plans (koaa.com) — A visit from U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper brought Pueblo leaders together to discuss how a new federal housing law could speed up local affordable housing projects. Officials say reduced red tape is already helping a 47‑unit development move forward. They argue that adding homes is essential for Pueblo's broader goals around jobs, education, and economic growth.
