• Stunning scenic drive just opened for the season in Colorado – but you'll need the right vehicle to tackle it (denvergazette.com) — Ridgway drivers can now access Last Dollar Road for a scenic, high-clearance-only shortcut toward Telluride, with the seasonal closure lifted just in time for summer exploring. The 13-mile dirt route offers big views of the Sneffels Range and Wilson Peak, plus camping and photography spots, but requires four-wheel drive and careful navigation from the Highway 145 turnoff.
   

• Astronauts to be inducted in U. S. Astronaut Hall of Fame at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on May 16 (gottagoorlando.com) — A former NASA astronaut now living near Ridgway, Joe Tanner, will be inducted into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame at Kennedy Space Center on May 16. The honor recognizes his four Space Shuttle missions, extensive spacewalk experience, and later work teaching at CU Boulder and mentoring STEM students, including outreach that connects back to southwest Colorado.
