• GarCo Report: Land swap on the Roan, keep the Hogback, oil, gas valuations lower than residential (soprissun.com) — Rifle resident Rebecca Briesmoore urged Garfield County commissioners to help temporarily fund RFTA’s Hogback bus route, stressing how vital it is for Rifle commuters and even saying she’d back a Rifle tax increase to support transit. Commissioners discussed past county funding, new participation from Rifle and Silt, and the likelihood of a future tax question, while also weighing a Roan Plateau land swap and declining oil and gas valuations.
   

• Lightning strike sparks 13-hour power outage in Vail (krystal93.com) — Recent storms caused a major overnight power outage from Vail to Gypsum while also bringing a bit of rain relief to dry parts of the high country. At the same time, dry lightning sparked at least two new fires, including one reported near Rifle that the Garfield County Sheriff is still investigating. Fire crews elsewhere in Colorado continue battling large wildfires under unstable weather conditions.
