• Grand Junction man refuses rescue after 200-foot base jumping fall near Telluride (kkco11news.com) — A Grand Junction man reportedly fell about 200 feet while base jumping near Telluride’s Columbine Basin, triggered an SOS call, then refused medical evacuation and hiked out with rescuers. San Miguel County’s sheriff criticized the move for tying up a Care Flight helicopter and search-and-rescue resources that might have been needed for other local emergencies.
