• Pine beetles' feast on ponderosas accelerated 150% in 2025, state forester reports (coloradosun.com) — Wheat Ridge’s ash trees are now among those being attacked by the emerald ash borer, part of a fast-spreading infestation across Front Range cities. A new state report also warns that pine beetle damage to ponderosa forests jumped 148% in 2025, increasing wildfire risks and forcing communities and homeowners to choose which trees to protect with costly treatments.
