2 Killed In Head-On Crash In CT, IDs Released

An 18-year-old and a 20-year-old were both killed in the crash.

CHAPLIN, CT — Two people were killed in a head-on crash in Chaplin late Friday, according to state police.

At 11:53 p.m. troopers responded to the area of 17 Willimantic Road for the report of a head on two car motor vehicle accident.

The driver of a 2018 Dodge Journey was outside the vehicle and taken to the hospital suffering minor injuries, state police said.

Troopers then found four unresponsive people inside a 2022 Hyundai Elantra, and two people were found dead. The deceased were identified as Jaiden Pacheco, 20, of North Windham and Geovani Aponte Jr., 18, of Willamant, state police said.

Both driver-side occupants were found to have serious injuries and were extricated from the vehicle and provided medical aid until EMS arrival, state police said. Both occupants were later transported to Hartford Hospital for further medical treatment.
