CT Weather: Ice Concerns Lead To Winter Weather Advisory Tuesday
A winter weather advisory has been issued for four Connecticut counties, while a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for two counties.
UPDATE: The National Weather Service has just issued a winter weather advisory for inland sections of Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties.
The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Wednesday.
"Freezing rain expected. Ice accumulation around a light glaze...Slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges are possible....Slow down and use caution while traveling."

This Afternoon: A 20 percent chance of rain after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 38. East wind around 5 mph.
Tonight: A chance of rain or freezing rain before 10pm, then rain likely. Patchy fog after 10pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 32. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected.

Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of rain before 10am. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 43. Light southwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.
Original post: Freezing rain and sleet are in the forecast for inland Connecticut starting Tuesday evening, according to meteorologists.
The precipitation could lead to slick roads, hazardous travel and potential power outages, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Hartford, Tolland, and Windham counties from 7 p.m. tonight through 10 a.m. Wednesday. Freezing rain is expected, with ice accumulation between 0.1 and 0.2 inches.
Litchfield County is also under a winter weather advisory due to freezing rain, though that advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon to 4 a.m. Wednesday morning. Total ice accumulation is expected to be one-tenth of an inch, the advisory states.
“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous,” the National Weather Service cautions. “Difficult travel conditions are possible.”
Both the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes will be impacted, according to the National Weather Service.
WFSB reports clouds will thicken as the day progresses today, with showers or drizzle developing after 4 p.m.
“Areas where the temperature is 32 degrees or colder will experience freezing rain, which is rain that freezes on contact creating a glaze of ice,” WFSB reports.
WFSB is calling today a “First Alert Weather Day” due to the icy mix tonight, which will be primarily inland. The station predicts northern sections of the state could see a glaze of up to 0.2 inches of ice accumulation.
“Untreated surfaces could become slick,” WFSB reports.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Northern New Haven and Fairfield counties through tonight, due to pockets of freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service. It predicts the precipitation will be plain rain along the coastline.
For coastal sections of southern Connecticut, just plain rain is forecast.
After the system clears out, the rest of the work week is trending warmer, with daytime highs reaching into the 40s on Wednesday and Thursday, then around 50 degrees on Friday.
