Strong-To-Severe Thunderstorms Forecast For CT: Here's When, What To Know

If you have outdoor plans this weekend, here are new details on when to expect potentially strong-to-severe thunderstorms.

Rain and thunderstorms are forecast late Saturday and on Sunday, according to the latest updates from the National Weather Service.

"....stronger thunderstorms are expected to develop mid-afternoon through early evening Sunday across western and central portions of Southern New England," the National Weather Service said.

"More rain is expected (Saturday night) as showers and thunderstorms move into the area from the south," added the weather service.

The best chance for rain is Sunday morning, though afternoon storms "would pose an impact to any outdoor plans, and because some of them could be strong-to-severe, we've declared Sunday a *First Alert Weather Day*," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

Monday through Thursday look largely dry, and more rain is possible on Friday, said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.
