The Bears Are Back Out In CT And Sightings Have Been Updated

ACROSS CONNECTICUT — Over the past 11 months, there have been a total of 6,776 bear sightings reported to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The sightings range from 646 in Avon in the middle of the state to amounts that can be counted on one hand in several towns, like four in Greenwich at the western end and two in Pomfret at the eastern end.

Here is a town-by-town breakdown of the reported sightings from April 2019 to March 2020. Only reported sighings are counted by the DEEP.
