She is leaving The River 105.9 FM after nearly 20 years.

CONNECTICUT — Renee DiNino, a fixture on Connecticut airwaves for decades, announced she is retiring from radio, effective at the end of the month.

"Thank you beyond words for the incredible journey and friendships," DiNino said in a Facebook post.

DiNino has been in radio for 30 years, and at The River 105.9 in Hartford (WHCN) for nearly 20 years, where she hosted middays, Community Access and a Sunday acoustic show.

Co-workers from iHeartRadio and The River threw DiNino a retirement party on Wednesday, a video from which can be viewed here.

"Today my iHeartRadio family threw me an unforgettable party as I say goodbye to radio after 30 years!!" she wrote. "The thought, care and time they put in was unbelievable and the guests who came were so special and thank you to my pups and Javier for the serenade!"

A Connecticut native, DiNino knew from an early age what she wanted to do as a career.

"I grew up listening to WHCN... and it's so cool to be a part of the team now!" she wrote in her bio. "I knew in 8th grade at O'Brien School in East Hartford that I wanted to be a DJ!"

According to Radio Ink, DiNino has won numerous humanitarian awards for her community service efforts with charities, such as Connecticut FoodShare and Operation Fuel.

DiNino has not shared what she plans to do now that she's retiring from radio, but The Laurel speculates that she may be in line for a television gig, possibly on the WFSB-TV morning newscast. WFSB-TV anchor Nicole Nalepa is switching from early mornings to a 9 a.m. telecast next week.
