Biden Nominates CT Judge For Second Circuit Judgeship

President Joe Biden nominated U.S. District court Judge Sarah Merriam to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit.

CONNECTICUT — President Joe Biden has nominated Connecticut U.S. District Court Judge Sarah A.L. Merriam to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit.

Merriam has served in the District of Connecticut since 2021 and was previously a magistrate judge for the district from 2015 to 2021. She also served as a federal public defender in Connecticut from 2007 to 2015 and prior to that worked at a private law firm and for political campaigns.

U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy tweeted that Merriam is an excellent choice for the Second Circuit.

“Sarah is a passionate believer in justice and one of the smartest people I know. She’ll be a great appellate judge,” he said.
