Fire reported outside Pepperidge Farm facility

A fire was reported outside the Pepperidge Farm facility on Blue Hills Avenue in Bloomford early Wednesday, according to media reports, including WFSB 3 TV. Quick work by fire crews prevented damage to the business. The fire began in a temporary storage tent that contained sulfuric acid, WFSB 3 TV reported.

The fire began at 4:45 a.m. Workers were inside the building when the blaze began, but no injuries were reported, WTNH News 8 reported. It took about two hours for the fire to be extinguished. Production inside the facility has been temporarily halted. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

House damaged during fire

A house on Willow Crest Drive in Windsor was badly damaged in a fire around 1 a.m. Wednesday, WTNH News 8 reported. The homeowner was not injured. Read more at News 8.
