CONNECTICUT — Gov. Ned Lamont has expanded the state's coronavirus travel advisory to include Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Puerto Rico, and Washington DC.

Lamont joins the governors of New York and New Jersey in broadening the scope of the areas affected.

Anyone traveling to Connecticut from locations with significant community spread of COVID-19 must self-quarantine for 14 days. Last week Lamont signed an executive order that will subject visitors who violate the state's coronavirus travel advisory to a $1,000 fine. Travelers are required to fill out an online form before traveling to the state. Those who refuse to fill out the form can be fined.

There are exceptions for essential workers on work-related travel and the rules don't apply to travelers who have a connecting flight from an impacted state, so long as their state of origin isn't on the advisory list.

The state Department of Public Health expects the list will continue to be updated on a weekly basis as the situation develops across the country.
