CT Man Turns Himself In Animal Abuse Case Involving Mother And Puppies
Jose Solivan, 27, of Wolcott, is accused of selling the puppies when they were too young to be removed from their mother's care.

WOLCOTT, CT — A Connecticut man turned himself into police Thursday morning on charges of animal cruelty involving seven puppies and their mother, according to the Wolcott Police Department.
Jose Solivan, 27, of Wolcott, is accused of selling the puppies when they were too young to be removed from their mother's care before dumping the mother on the side of the road in April.
A passerby found the mother, Mya running up Spindle Hill by the intersection of Mad River Road on April 9, according to the Wolcott Dog Pound.

They "stopped and held her so she would not have gotten hit," the pound added last month.
"I would really like to say I understand...but I don't ... I like to say she isn't dumped...but I know better," they wrote in a Facebook post. "I'd like to say it is a mistake...but it isn't. I'd like to ask where her babies are...but I already know the answer. I'd like to ask why...but I've already heard all the excuses in the book."

Mya had no collar, tags, or microchip, was described as "very young and sweet" and still producing milk when she was found. Her abandoned babies were only a few days old.
As of Thursday, five of the seven puppies have been recovered and are "doing very well," Wolcott police said.
Solivan is facing charges of animal cruelty and making a false statement with a $25,000 bond and has been ordered not to own any animals, police said. He will be presented in court Thursday.
